“We have players who have the ability to play football but we have to improve their knowledge, ”
That was one of the statements made by the head coach of KCCA FC Mike Hilary Mutebi in the Pilsner Super 8 press conference that was held today at Kati Kati restaurant in Lugogo.
Mutebi said that there are many talents in Uganda but these did not go through academies which are responsible for shaping them.
“Most of these players were not taught these skills. So we have to give them time to cope up with the system” noted Mutebi.
He explained that modern trend of football should be instilled in players.
The coach gave an example of his player Shaban Muhammad who he believed to have changed a lot after joining KCCA FC.
According to Mutebi,no player is above the club.
He added that the former coaches of Shaban had the same problem where Shaban was taken to be the only star in the club.
“I met Shaban when he was only 14 as a young player who needed help. But the more he has grown up, the more he has been spoiled. This is the time to shape the boy.” Said Mutebi
On this note Mutebi urged the football lovers to work together with clubs to enable them make the best out of players.
