The MP Kajara county Timuzigu Michael Kamugisha has urged parents and political leaders to supplement government efforts by supporting schools which will improve education standards in their communities.
According to Timuzigu, government has made tremendous work in uplifting education standards but parents and political leaders have remained reluctant to their responsibilities leaving a burden to government.
“ Let parents and other stakeholders play their roles while supplementing what government has done in their communities saying that some people have remained adamant not to contribute any single coin as far as education is concerned” MP said.
He made the remarks on Wednesday ahead of the first ever Katunga Secondary School fundraising slated for Friday 10 August, 2018 which is expected to be presided over by the government chief Whip Hon Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu at Katunga SS in Butanda parish Ihunga sub county Kajara County Ntungamo district.
Katunga SS is a church founded school using contributions from Christians early last year on 2nd, February 2017 from senior one to senior three and so far it has over 200 students.
Hon Timuzigu rallied parents, politicians, civil servants and well wishers to honor the fundraising drive aimed at raising money for construction of classroom blocks.
The head teacher Mugarura Ezra noted that the fundraising drive will help them to extend services to the schools urging all stakeholders to support the cause.
Mugarura hailed the cooperation amongst parents, board of governors led by Venerable Rev can James Ndyanabo Rutaraaka and PTA and fundraising steering chairman Junior Rwakishaija which has enabled the Katunga SS to greater heights.
