President Yoweri Museveni and first Lady Janet Museveni have left for South Africa as Constitutional Court Judges deliver the controversial age limit ruling today in Mbale.
The bill which was amended in December, 2017 saw the scrapping of presidential age limits, the extension of all political offices from five to seven years, and the reintroduction of the two presidential term limits.
President Museveni, who would be above the 75-year age limit at the next election, is a singular beneficiary of the amendment.
This move left many Ugandans dissatisfied thus challenging it in courts of law.
However, it seems the president doesn’t want to be anywhere near Uganda when the ruling is being delivered.
On his official twitter handle, he wrote,“In company of First Lady @JanetMuseveni, I have left for the 10th BRICS Summit in South Africa. The discussions will among others focus on how Africa can tap into the 4th Industrial Revolution,”
