One person was on Saturday shot and injured in the left leg at a political rally.
The victim Mr Venasio Byaruhanga 52, a LC 1Chairperson of Nyakita cell Kitanga parish Buhara subcounty Kabale district was shot by Venasio Kanyakiriro, a UPDF personnel attached to Kabale RDC’s office.
Its alleged that on Saturday at around 18:00 hours while at an NRM rally at Kafunjo health centre two for sub county woman chancellor Buhara ms Anet Kabagambe, the victim continuously made deliberate interjections that distracted the speakers.
Its on this ground that he was taken away from the rally and in the process, he fought the guard to an extent of breaking the sealing rifle hence shooting him in self defence.
It’s alleged that kabale RDC Mr Darius Nandinda who was present was not happy with the conduct of the LCI chairperson, who was not supporting the NRM candidate.
Nandinda then ordered for his arrest and when the chairperson protested, he was shot by the RDC’ s guards.
According to the Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly maate, the victim was rushed to Kabale referral hospital for treatment.
Maate says that a case was registered and inquiries are underway to establish the rightful cause of shooting.
This case has been registered at Kabale police station under file number Sd 62/21/07/2018.
