There has been a public outcry over the absence of Mrs Miria Matembe from NBS TV’s most popular political show, The Frontline hosted by Charles Odongtho.
This website has established that Matembe was asked to stay off the show by NBS management after she took disagreements with fellow panelists and guests off the show.
Our sources at the Kamwokya based television say Matembe has been following through her threats to sue people like Ofwono Opondo, one of the people her ideas collide.
Watchdog Uganda has been reliably told that Matembe’s threats to sue NRM spokesman Ofwono Opondo and other guests came to pass, and to make matters worse, she also co-sued them with NBS.
The Frontline is apparently the hottest political show on television and what makes it hot is the no-holds-barred debate. The show hosted by Odongtho had regular panelists with contracts including Matembe, Ofwono Opondo and Democratic Party President Norbert. There are usually two extra guests on the show depending on the topical issue being discussed.
Viewers who thought Matembe has a one off absence on the show about a month ago, now, are getting used to her absence. The station and the show itself have been silent about her absence – no explanation why female guests to replace her were being rotated.
Our sources say Matembe is expected to return on the show after reflecting on the show’s rules of engagement including leaving what happens on the show, inside the studio. However, she is not willing to adjust to lively debate, Matembe might be replaced by a female debater with a big following, and could engage the rest of panel without taking their comments personal.
It should be noted that Matembe has on air showed she despises views of several NRM leaning guests including Housing State Minister Chris Baryomunsi, Propagandist Andrew Mwenda, Constitutional Affairs Minister Kahinda Otafiire among others.
