Police in Kisoro district is holding seven welders on allegation of carrying out aggravated robbery at Mubuga Savings and Credit Cooperative Society in Nyakinama Sub County.
The suspects are Dan Munyambabazi aged 23, Ronald Lwanga aged 20, Gilbert Maniriho aged 20, Bright Kwizera Bright (21), Augustine Ndunguse (22), Micheal Harerimana (22), Emmanuel Katerega (24) all working as welders in Nateete trading centre kisoro.
They are alleged to have attacked the same SACCO at Mubuga trading center, Rwaramba Parish Nyakinama Sub County at around 2am Wednesday morning, where they tied the security guard one Clever Habomugisha with a rope and took his gun after where they blocked into the SACCO and stole a SACCO’s camera and the stamp.
The Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Elly Maate says that the suspects used the same gun to shoot in air before they took off.
Maate added that the suspects were later intercepted by motor vehicle lights for one only identified as Clement the boss to the security guard who was called by the manager of the same SACCO to intervene after he was also alerted by the SACCO neighbors after hearing live bullets.
Maate says that police visited the scene and many breaking implements were recovered at the scene including one live bullet and a cartage where the sniffer dog tracked up to the work Shop of one Katelega and recovered a SACCO stamp from his bed room.
The case has been registered at Kisoro police station under reference number CRB 512/2018.
