Just days after Vodafone closing shop in Uganda due to a number of financial constraints, Smile Telecom is likely to follow suit.
Smile Telecom seems to be suffering financially and in the near future the telecom company may also exit the market.
In a public notice, Airtel Uganda has informed its customers that that starting 14 May, 2018, they will not be able to make or receive calls to or from Smile Telecom after termination of interconnection service between the two telecom companies.
Airtel management says, the interconnection service between them and Smile Telecom was terminated due to Smile’s persistent failure and refusal to pay inter-connect fees to them despite numerous demands and reminders.
