Last month, mobile money transactions details of former Bank of Uganda Director in charge of Supervision Justine Bagyenda leaked.
In an analysis of some of her transactions, Bagyenda sent over shs500 million to her son-in-law a one Robert Muhumuza.
Following the leakage, MTN Uganda has come out to apologize to Bagyenda.
In a statement, MTN has revealed that they conducted an internal investigation and found some of its staff acted outside of established processes and procedures of handling confidential customer information.
The telecom company says the errant staff who leaked Bagyenda’s information have since been handed over to the relevant authorities and are facing criminal prosecution for their individual actions.
“We wish to unreservedly apologize to Ms. Justine Bagyenda for the inconvenience this incident may have caused her,” MTN states.
