It was fan as Kansanga based University Kampala International University (KIU) excelled in the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) women’s day volleyball tournament.
The team lead by Captain Musubika Patricia, also a libero from Sport S volleyball club, did not find any difficulty in winning Ndejje University two sets to one (2:1) in the best of three final.
KIU disciplined universities like Makerere University Kampala (MUK), Ndejje University and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) uniformly with a 3:0 victory to enable them qualify for the semi finals.
On the semifinal stage, KIU disciplined the hosts IUIU 2:0 and managed to qualify for the final game where they managed to become this year’s champions.
The squad was composed of ten girls including Captain Musubika Patricia, Amurino Eunice, Tumwebaze Esther, Namirimu Faridah, Kagoya Kauther, Evas Nayebare, Barbara Yatsoyenko, Sharon Masika, Carol. Nabada Jalia and the team coach Mugisha Benon.
The sports tutor for KIU Miss Annet Kabasindi thanked the girls for the great performance.
“These girls really impressed me. I have nothing to say to them other than thanking them.” Said Kabasindi. On this note she promised to keep taking all her teams in various events to enable them show a great performance in the forth coming East African University games in Dodoma
