Last year, Former Police Chief Gen Kale Kayihura boasted how he couldn’t be fired through social media but as they say we never know God’s plans until they happen.
In January, 2017 there were some social media allegations that he had been fired and replaced by Brig. Ronnie Barya, the then Internal Security Organization Director General.
In a story that appeared in Daily Monitor,Kayihura said his sacking cannot be done through social media as it has been portrayed in the recent past. But he was quick to say that his current position as chief of the police is not a lifetime job because he can be redeployed by the President.
Unfortunately, the firing means he despised are the same means, President Yoweri Museveni used to announce his replacement two days back.
“There is a lot that is going on social media and other media houses regarding my replacement. You see stories circulating that Kayihura has been sacked,” he said when he was passing out 400 crime intelligence and ICT police offers at Police Training School Kabalye in Masindi.
“I cannot be sacked from social media. Besides, I am not life IGP. My job is prone to replacement,” he said.
Kayihura was replaced along with his longtime rival Gen Henry Tumukunde, who has been the security minister.
He was replaced with his deputy Okoth Ochola whereas Tumukunde was replaced by Gen Elly Tumwiine.
