The ruling party NRM secretariat has opted to sack a good number of its employees in a bid to cut costs.
According to Trumpet News, the party Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba on Tuesday summoned the staff for a crisis meeting where she announced development which has affected most of the employees.
The mostly affected staff are those who have been conducting “not so vital work” for the party whereas those with contracts are likely not to be affected.
The party has an annual wage bill of shs2.56 billion yet it has no any other source of income apart from government.
Apparently Lumumba and the party chairman President Yoweri Museveni are eager to slash the standing bill to shs360 million.
It should be noted that most employees at plot 10 Kyadondo, have gone for over seven months without pay.
Meanwhile, Lumumba has appealed to the president to clear all the outstanding salaries to the dismissed staff.
