There have been ongoing reports that Kampala Metropolitan Police South commander ACP Sirajje Bakaleke was yesterday arrested with four other officers on allegations that they robbed shs1.4 billion from three South Korean nationals at gunpoint.
According to Daily Monitor a statement recorded at the Flying Squad headquarters, indicated that one of the South Koreans revealed that their mission to Uganda was to purchase gold worth Shs1.5b.
However, on the day of meeting dealers at Acacia Mall it’s when they fell in trap as instead of meeting the said dealers, they were surrounded by security operatives, put on gunpoint and asked to hand over the money they had and later the suspected officers bought air tickets from Emirates Air and planned to repatriate the investors.
However, Kampala Metropolitan Police have refuted the arrest rumour of Bakaleke saying its false and amounts to fake news.
They said that Bakaleke is busy at his working station executing police duties.
“Please discard the rumor of the alleged arrest and detention of ACP. Bakaleke Sirajje Regional Police Commander KMP South by PSU. Its false and amounts to fake news. The officer is at his place of work going about his duties in the region,” KMP posted on their official Facebook page.
