The Minister of State EAC affairs, Hon.Julius Maganda has officially launched Tarehe Sita activities at Masafu Referral Hospital where UPDF and the EAC partner state of South Sudan are going to refurbish a drug store and conduct a medical camp for the people of Busia.
The Minister noted that Defence and security sector of the EAC is the most integrated sector today.
He commended the South Sudan contingent for hitting the road running and are already feeling at home.
Major General Gavas Mugyenyi who represented the UPDF, implored the people of Busia to jealously guard peace which has enabled UPDF to have time to carry out community support activities.
The Commissioner of patriotism in the office of the President, Brig Patrick Mwesigye highlighted Bukedi region as one that contributed to the liberation of Uganda through Capt Kazi Mooto Mpiima, who sacrificed his life for Uganda,a reason they should be proud to host the first ever EAC integrated Tarehe Sita activities.
The district launch was attended by the UPDF Commander of the Engineers Brigade, Engr Brig Timothy Sabiiti, the Chairman LC V Busia, Mr.Oguutu Boneface, local councilors of Busia district and the local population.
