Uganda Cranes sweeper and former captain Andy Mwesigwa has today officially retired from football.
Mwesigwa announced his retirement at his A.M education and sports college school in Wakiso while addressing the media.
He said, ““It’s been a good journey for me but I officially and painfully have to say that I leave this game.I thank the almighty God for the journey, fans and my family,”
He joined Uganda Cranes in 2003 and has played 78 games, scoring eight goals for the national team.
Mwesigwa who was the Cranes captain from 2008 -2015 took over the arm-band from Ibrahim Ssekagya.
He played for clubs including Previous clubs: SC Villa (Uganda), IBV (Iceland), Chongqing lifan (China), Ordabasy (Kazakhstan), Yenican (Cyprus) and Saigon (Vietnam).
