Buganda Region Football Association organised an U17 beginners referees course at Dynamic Secondary School, Ssonde.
The beginners Course has attracted 80 participants with 20 girls from all Buganda region football districts and has run 15th-20th January 2018 .
According to Abu Zikusooka the Chairman Technical Committee BRFA, the course was residential because many participants came from long distances and could not commute on a daily basis.
The course was facilitated by Retired FIFA Referees Nelson Nsubuga Mubanda. Samuel Kayondo and Sewaya Miti.
‘The course is aimed at nurturing future referees who will help fill the vacuum of retiring referees’ Said Mubanda.
Mubanda also noted that the reason why Ugandan referees have failed to get FIFA badges and officiate at International level is because they join the field of refereeing when they are already old and therefore the young get accustomed to the laws and rules of the game this they will have a chance and time to upgrade and officiate International Matches.
The Junior Referees course is part of the four beginner courses running between 15-20 January 2018 at FUFA House, Mango, Kajjansi and Luwero.
