Traders from Nabukeera Plaza in Kampala have under looked the city minister for Kampala Beti Kamya by calling her a rag.
This happened in a strike that was carried out at Nabukeera plaza on Wednesday where traders vowed not to make any rent payments before Landlord, city tycoon Mansur Matovu aka Yanga revises them.
The traders who were shouting minister Kamya’s name on top of their voices said Yanga added Shs1000, 000 on top of every tenants rent fee a situation that they feel Kampala minister cannot handle.
Yasin Mugabi, a computer specialist for making plastic ID’S said that they have been paying Shs1,250,000 as rent but it was a big blow to them when the Landlord abruptly increased without making any consultations or renovations to the building by adding an extra Shs1000,000.
“Betty Kamya cannot do anything to help us. She is also looking for daily food.” Said Yasin.
He added that the only person who can help them is the landlord himself who has to understand that this is January and they have got to look for school fees of their children.
On this day, shops were seen closed and police was seen parked near the building to stop any kind of crimes that might be done around the building.
Tycoon Yanga is a man known to posses buildings around Kampala which include Namaganda plaza,Zai Plaza and MM Plaza.
It should be noted that the last time these people struck , Yanga told them that if they cannot afford rent, they should leave his building since those who can manage are on the waiting list.
