VIVO Energy has today given financial and logistical support towards the success of the UPDF children’s’ Christmas party due to take place on 12 Dec 2017 in Kakiri barracks.
Speaking on behalf of VIVO Energy, the Managing Director, Mr. Gilbert Asii said they were proud to partner in service with the UPDF because through this they were also working in defence of the country.
Mr. Asii also remarked that supporting the UPDF children to enjoy their Christmas party is part of their corporate social responsibility towards Ugandans. They were happy to be bringing some joy to the future soldiers of the nation in the Christmas season which is a period of giving.
In his remarks, Lt.Col Deo Akiiki, the Deputy Defence Spokesperson who represented the UPDF, thanked VIVO Energy for coming up as the first corporate organization to support the function and always working towards maintaining the good relationship between the UPDF and VIVO Energy.
He further thanked them for giving a helping hand and urged all the other corporate organizations to emulate VIVO in support of the noble activity to be presided over by the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. David Muhoozi.
The VIVO Energy MD later handed over a cheque worth 2.4 million, where 1.4 million will be in form of fuel and the 1million will be towards covering other needs of the day.
This party is being organized by Reach out Wives of Soldiers Association (ROWASA), which is an umbrella organization for wives of soldiers based in Bombo. Its primary objective is to empower soldiers’ wives with skills to transform them and their families.
This is an annual event where children of soldiers come together as a family to celebrate Christmas. An estimated 1452 children are expected to attend.
