Ugandan Court of Appeal/Constitutional Court Judge, Lady Justice Solomy Balungi Bossa has been elected by the Assembly of State Parties to serve as a Judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague, Netherlands.
The Assembly of State parties is the assembly of all countries that are signatories to the Rome Statue, the law that creates the ICC.
She becomes the second Ugandan Jurists to serve on the ICC Bench after Justice Daniel David Ntanda Nsereko who served the court from June 1, 2008, to March 10, 2012.
Lady Justice Solomy Balungi Bossa comes with a twenty seven year rich history of distinguished judicial service both in and outside of Uganda.
Serving as a Justice of the Court of Appeal and Constitutional Court since her appointment on July 7, 2013, Lady Justice Bossa, served as a Judge at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (UNICTR) for nine and half years (2003-2013), the African Court of Human and People’s Rights (appointed September 8, 2014), Judge of the East African Court of Justice (2001 – 2006), andJudge of the High Court of Uganda (1997 – 2013).
