The long awaited 2017 Airtel FUFA Awards took place on Friday at Speke Resort, Munyonyo.
There is no doubt that for the past two years, the Airtel FUFA awards have had a great impact on the lives of the various winners and also motivated many to work harder.
For the third year running, the finest footballers in Uganda have been rewarded with the awards, cash and the MVPs drove home in brand new cars.
Here is how the function went down;
6:00 – 7:00 p.m – Arrival of guests, Nominees
7:00 p.m – 9:07 p.m – Dinner
9:08 p.m – First Award was given out by Aggrey Ashaba, the chairperson of KCCA F.C
Dennis Onyango – Fans Favourite player of the year, outside Uganda
9:11 p.m – Second award given out by Darius Mugoye, second Vice President of FUFA
Emmanuel Okwi – Fans Favourite player of the year, based in Uganda
9:15 p.m – Pamela Abonyo, from National Insurance Corporation (NIC) hands over the Beach Soccer Player of the Year Award to Nasser Lwamunda (Muteesa 1 Royal University)
9:22 p.m: Dr Benard Patrick Ogwel hands over the FUFA Young Referee of the Year
Keneddy Kasadha – FUFA Young Referee of the year
9:30 p.m – Former Uganda Cranes international Andy Lule hands over the fair play award to KCCA Football Club
9:35 p.m – Former FIFA Referee Catherine Adipo hands over the Referee of the Year Award to FIFA Referee Brian Miiro Nsubuga (FUFA Communications Manager, Ahmed Hussein recieved the award on behalf of Miiro)
9:41 p.m – Hon. Minister Owek. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi hands over the FUFA Coach of the Year to Mike Mutebi (KCCA Football Club)
9:50 p.m – Team of the Year is Announced:
