New Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party President Patrick Amuriat Oboi has today sworn in as opposition party head.
He has taken the oath at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi after defeating Mugisha Muntu in last week’s election which took place at Namboole National Stadium.
During the inauguration ceremony, Amuriat appealed to former party president Muntu and his supporter to remain in FDC citing that they are an asset to the party thus must remain united
His remarks followed comments by Muntu who indicated that he had chosen to avoid making quick decisions despite pressure that he leaves the party and other issues including being branded a mole.
Muntu stressed that even if he decided to leave FDC he will still be ready to work with its leadership to cause political change in Uganda.
Meanwhile, a number of party official and MP’s have graced the ceremony including the party secretary general Nandala Mafaabi, Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa, Latif Sebaggala MP of Kawempe north, Hon. Salam Musumba, kampala woman MP Nabiira Naiga Sempala,Deputy party president Buganda region Nabbosa Sebugwawo, Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi among others.
Among the four who aspired for the top set in the recent concluded elections with Amuriat, only Byamugisha Moses Moses has not graced the ceremony.
In his speech, the National party chairman Wasswa Biriggwa cautioned Amuriat to keep the fire burning as the former president Mugisha Muntu did.
“If it wasn’t Mugisha Muntu’s efforts to build the party to where it is, you wouldn’t lead anything therefore it your turn to showcase your possibility.” Biriggwa noted.
