Uganda Cranes head to the last Group E World cup qualifier away to Congo Brazzaville on Sunday 12th November, 2017 with big ambitions.
With Egypt already through out of the group to the prestigious FIFA World Cup in Russia, Uganda will use the game as a preparatory game for the future (with CECAFA 2017, CHAN 2018 and AFCON 2019 fast approaching).
Better still, the game will be used to better the world FIFA ranking and maintain the status quo for the country among fast rising African footballing countries.
The players are in the right moods to register a dominant and memorable performance away from home on Sunday at the 60,000 seater Stade Municipal De Kintele against Congo Brazzaville kicking off at 5:30 pm East African Standard time.
“The weather here in Brazzaville is favourable, we go into this game to purposely earn that much required exposure and experience playing away from home, boastfully end the campaign in high gear so we better our rankings and hopefully reclaim our best team in Africa accolade” Uganda cranes left back Godfrey Walusimbi remarked ahead of today’s Congo Brazzaville tie.
Everyone is set and ready for today’s game, a win today will boost confidence and motivate us (especially the home based players) ahead of the forthcoming CECAFA tourney and African cup Qualifiers early next year” National team goalkeeper Ismail Watenga also noted.
The cranes who had an impressive campaign registering one loss (1-0) against Africa’s record 7 time AFCON winner, Egypt, away from home in Alexandria, drawing twice with two wins in 5 qualifier ties held ahead of today’s game.
Africa’s number one shot stopper and Uganda Cranes Captain Denis Masinde Onyango who has conceded only one goal all campaign through so far, is looking forward to leading the cranes to another win that will see Uganda register their 3rd win of the Russia 2018 World cup Qualifiers campaign.
Uganda Cranes who will get to Stade Municipal De Kintele from Hotel Sapphire in a 20 minute drive, will don their away white jersey and black shorts with the goalkeeper designed in an all blue kit. Their counterparts and hosts Congo Brazzaville will wear red all through.
