The Prime minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has urged religious leaders to avoid mixing religion with politics while carrying out their duties.
During a meeting with National Resistance Movement (NRM)members in Kanungu district, Dr. Rugunda said the current debate on amending article 102b of the constitution should not be used to cause divisions.
The prime minister who is currently popularizing the constitutional amendment in Kigezi region expressed concern that of late religious leaders had abandoned their core mandate of preaching about peace and love to the citizens and resorted to condemning political beliefs.
Apparently, a number of religious leaders have condemned government’s move to scrap the age limit cap from the constitution which will enable President Yoweri Museveni to take part in the 2021 presidential elections even after clocking 75 years of age.
