The Leader of the Opposition also Kasese District Woman MP Winnie Kiiza today appeared before the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs committee to present her views on the current process of constitution amendment, which among others, if successful, will remove the age limit cap as established under 102b.
The LOP informed the committee that in the 9th parliament, Paul Mwiru presented a minority report which was adopted by the House on Constitution Amendment. This she said would require a comprehensive amendment through a review commission.
She categorically rejected the amendment and referred to the process that government is acting in bad faith by supporting the Magyezi Bill which only touches on 2 recommendations from the Supreme Court in the Amama Mbabazi election petition other than 11.
She noted that the Bill is intended to undermine the democratic path of the country.
