The Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi has opened a two weeks pre- retirement exercise, at Gaddafi Barracks Jinja
Gen Muhoozi while opening a pre-retirement training exercise said that UPDF is very grateful to the retirees and commended them for obtaining training before retiring fully to gain skills.
“Those retiring should be a good example to other officers and militants still serving the country, they came peacefully and they should retire peacefully” Gen Muhoozi said.
“We thank you so much for your patience in the army, you have sacrificed a lot during your service in the army” he added.
Muhoozi explained that preparation before retiring is very important to reunite with families after a long time in service. He was grateful to the kind of skills being passed on to the retiring soldiers.
He implored them to utilize the opportunities available such as army hospitals and army shop for the future as they retire. He called upon the retirees to keep in touch because anytime they can be called upon to serve again.
Gen. Muhoozi emphasized good discipline among the retiring officers and militants to remain good ambassadors for the institution.
The Chief of Personnel and Administration (CPA) in the UPDF Brig. George Igumba, said that retirement from active service is an essential ingredient directly linked to means of motivating public officers after a recognized period of service.
