The arrest and arraigning before the General Court Martial of the nine people including five senior police commanders were on Friday morning, is probably the most interesting crime story the last quarter of 2017.
Top police officers, seen earlier as “untouchable” arrived before General Court Martial in Makindye in handcuffs, in a fast paced change of fortunes of powerful men of yesterday.
Charges including kidnap, illegal possessions of guns and extortion, among others are awaiting them, yet, there is speculation over their involvement in the number of murders which rocked this country, without a trace of the assailants.
Court chaired by the military court boss Lt Gen Andrew Guti has been charged with hearing the trial that is shaking the police force.
The suspects including Professional Standards Unit (PSU) boss Joel Aguma, Abel Tumukunde, the Kampala Metropolitan police flying squad commander and Nixon Agasirwe, a former head of police special operations are some of the most feared men in the force.
