Vipers sports club have been dealt a big blow ahead of their crunch trip to Onduparaka this weekend.
Kalega Hassan has been ruled out of the game through a groin injury that saw him sit out of Tuesday’s practice conducted at the Kisubi SMACK play grounds.
The Venoms midfielder will miss the game, while Pius Wangi and Benjamin Nyakoojo are also sidelined.
Vipers will travel to West Nile this week for the Greenlight stadium knowing a win will see them leap frog the Caterpillars to the top spot on the league table.
Kalega has featured in five of the six Azam Uganda premier league games Vipers has played creating one goal in the process.
He provided Milton Karisa with the pass that resulted into the side’s only goal in their 2-1 defeat to Police FC two weeks ago at Namboole stadium.
Also sidelined with injury, are Pius Wangi and Benjamin Nyakoojowho will have to wait to make their league debuts this season.
The trio join long term absentees Halid Lwaliwa and Duncan Seninde who are expected to return next month.
Goal keeper James Alitho picked a fever and midfielder Moses Waiswa but are expected to make the squad that will travel to Arua later in the week.
Vipers sit two points behind log leaders Onduparaka on 11 points and will be targeting the latter’s scalp when the two face off on Saturday.
