Police: Student whose hand was blown by teargas canister was careless

During weekend, a student identified as Musafalu Kamakya lost his hand after a tear gas canister blast.

Before the incident, there were running battles in Makindye Kulekaana stage as police dispersed crowds opposed to age limit lifting.

According to police, the 17 year old student while on his way from school, he picked the teargas canister thinking it’s a toy and went with it at home and in the process as the student opened the canister, it exploded and blew all his hand into shreds.

“When this student was on his way from school , he picked the teargass canister thinking it’s a toy and went with it home and in the process as the student opened the canister , it exploded and blew all his hand into shreds , he was so lucky that it didn’t explode in his face” states police.

It says people should stop being careless thus advising the public especially children to be cautious when they find a device dumped on the road that they don’t understand but rather inform police.
