Police has raided another civil society organization in Kampala on Monday evening.
This news website has received reports that #UgandaPolice has raided the Uhuru Institute for Social Development located in Naguru, an upscale Kampala suburb in Nakawa Division.
Police officers have asked staff at the organization to hand over their mobile phones.
Watchdog Uganda has not yet established the interest of police in this organization, however a couple of weeks ago, Action Aid and Great Lakes Institute were surrounded and condoned off in similar operations.
Police say they had received information that the organistions were receiving foreign money to distabilise the country. Critics took on the police questioning their motive as parliament was gearing to tabling the controversial Age Limit cap lifting in the Constitution.
The website for The Uhuru Institute For Social Development says the organization employs a social business model to create change in Uganda’s society by applying business acumen in programs designed for socio economic and political development of Uganda’s societies.
