A UPDF air force brigade commander at a rank of colonel has perished in a motor accident between Kyenda and Kiganda on Mityana Road.
Col David Katorogo the 201 Air Defence Commander died on Wednesday, 20 September as he headed to his home village in Kyenjojo in Tooro to start his leave days with his family.
His wife and child were driving in the same car which overturned but survived the accident. Reports however indicate the driver is still in critical condition.
Col Katorogo’s colleagues say he was an accomplished soldier and one of the best commanders in the force.
Lt Col Deo Akiiki, the deputy army spokesman told Watchdog Uganda that, “In his simplicity he accomplished all his military assignments without a hitch,” adding that the UPDF fraternity will definitely miss him.”
The deceased fought in the Central African Republic, and the Lord’s Resistance Army.
