President Yoweri Museveni has lashed out on government officials who undermining the role of the private sector in the development of Uganda labeling them as “ignorant”.
While addressing the media on issues concerning the land amendment bill at State House Entebbe on Wednesday, the president said the modern world is largely steered by private businesses thus criticizing politicians that have faulted him for supporting investors.
“The modern world is about private sector. When you hear that countries like South Korea, Japan and the U.S. are strong, it is because of private companies like Toyota, Hyundai and Samsung,” said Museveni.
He expressed disappointment while alluding to a section of MPs who recently condemned him for supporting Madhvani Group in the wake of claims of the Group’s land grabbing in Amuru, Northern Uganda.
“It is the job of a modern government to promote the private sector. Wake up Ugandans, wake up Africans. The modern world is driven by the private sector. This ignorance must stop!”he emphasized.
