Vipers Sports club welcomed the new 2017/18 Azam Uganda Premier League season in style with a formal launch at the St Mary’s stadium- Kitende on Saturday night.
The unique event was a pleasant social evening for club and football fans, former and players, members of the executive committee, sponsors among others graced the glamorous launch.
The club honoured six members of the playing staff, Halid Lwaliwa, Isma Watenga, Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye, Milton Karisa,Tonny Odur and Nicolas Wadada for their outstanding performance last season.
At the same function, eight new signings; Tom Masiko, Tadeo Lwanga, Mousa Clovis Mbayi, Steven Mukwala, Yayo Lutimba, Steven Mukwala, Baden Mujahid and Ashraf ‘Fadiga’ Bamuturaki were officially unveiled.
The Venoms also unveiled the new home (red shirt) & away (blue) kit. Both shirts feature a black ‘V’ neck and Adidas vintage lines on the shoulder which adds a smart but functional element.
Furthermore, Vipers also launched membership cards and season tickets for the first time in their history.
Club President Lawrence Mulindwa and head coach Miguel Da Costa were on hand to discuss the new signings and upcoming season.
“We need to compete with strong teams in the league more reason we made these new signings.” explained Mulindwa.
“Our fans should expect the best out of Vipers this season.”
Speaking to the press after the launch, head coach Miguel Da Costa said he has a strong team for the new season.
“We have a solid team that we believe will favourably compete for honors this season.”
Vipers first game of the season will see them travel to Mwererwe at the champions stadium to take on Bright Stars on Tuesday.
