Former presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye’s aide Sam Mugumya who is being incarcerated in the Democratic Republic of Congo is set to be charged in Congolese court martial over armed killings.
According to information we are receiving on our desk, DRC military court has begun trials of 215 members of Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) accused of killing hundreds of civilians in and around Beni town.
Unfortunately, Mugumya is included among the listed rebels and currently he is being detained in Ndolo military prison in Kinshasa.
Mugumya and colleagues will be transferred anytime to Beni where they will answer charges of massacring civilians, participating in an insurrection movement among others.
Mugumya, a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party member was arrested, together with Aggrey Kamukama, Steven Mugisha, Nathan Bright and Joseph Kamugisha, in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 2014.
In 2016, Uganda government said Mugumya was engaged in subversive activities and was arrested with dollars and sensitive documents in Congo.
