Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni is off to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea’s capital city, on a 4-day State Visit.
The president is returning a visit to the 75-year old President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo who visited him in Uganda in April this year. Teodoro Obiang has been in power since 1979, and is one of the oldest leaders on the continent and of course, in the world.
President Museveni was seen off at Entebbe International Airport on Friday afternoon by Presidency Minister, Esther Mbayo, Police chief Gen Kale Kayihura, Head of Public Service Mr. John Mitala and other senior security officers.
President Museveni and President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo signed a memorandum of understanding in April this year during the Guinean President’s State Visit to Uganda.
State House statement sent out on Friday afternoon says that the protocol between the two countries hinged on oil and gas co-operation as well as trade and culture among others.
The statement adds that the protocol also laid the ground for the establishment of a permanent joint commission for co-operation between Uganda and Equatorial Guinea.
