President Yoweri Museveni has today campaigned for the NRM candidate Taban Idi Amin (Jege-Jege) at Yabweri village, Mutunda sub-county, Kibanda county, in Kiryandongo district ahead of the forthcoming parliamentary seat by-election.
Taban was in May this year thrown out of parliament as Kibanda North MP by three Justices of Uganda’s Court of Appeal on grounds that he was not a registered voter and therefore not qualified for nomination and election.
Justices Steven Kavuma, Cheborion Barishaki and Paul Mugamba agreed with Otada Sam Amooti who is Taban’s political rival.
In July, Iddi Amin’s grandson was declared NRM flag bearer after a landslide victory with 12,812 votes.
The by-election is scheduled to take place on 10th August 2017.
