The president of the republic of Uganda HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is yet to sort Kalerwe Market land issues with landlords.
This was reached at after Museveni meeting one of the land lords of Kalerwe Market Mr. Yahaya Walusimbi during the launch of the Kalerwe Kubbiri carpenters association .
The ceremony took place at St Peters Primary School Kalerwe.
On this function,the president gave the carpenters a cheque of UGX100,000,000 to the carpenters which while giving out advised them to handle it with care and accountability.
“You should handle this money carefully and make sure that even your grand children benefit from it.” Said Museveni.
On the same function,the president donated carpentry machines worth millions of shillings.
It is on this note that Museveni requested Ugandans to support products of fellow Ugandans.
“I urge every Ugandan to support our own. Instead of buying furniture from China,you should buy ours so that money is kept within the country,” he stated.
The president also promised to take five carpenters to go to china and learn more about carpentry.
Kizito Godfrey,the.chairman of Kubbiri furniture development association thanked the president for the support rendered towards the development of the youths.
Meanwhile,the land in question is block 5 plot 1120 where Yahaya Walusimbi,Brig. Elly Kayanja,Fulgence Kalibbala and George Sempijja have to seat with the president and discuss how they want the land to benefit the people of Kalerwe.
Yahaya Walusimbi, one of the landlords says that if compensated rightly,he is willing to leave the land to be developed for Ugandans. He however is sad with the high court of Uganda which sad in the night to change the sizes of the the Kalerwe land from the original mother tittle that he owns.
