Prosecutors under their umbrella body Uganda Association of Prosecutors (UAP) have resolved to call off the sit down strike to allow government deliver as promised.
The prosecutors elected to return to their work stations starting this afternoon giving government chance to fulfill its commitments to them within 90 days.
171 prosecutors voted in favour of calling off the strike whereas 12 were against it.
The decision was made today at Imperial Royale Hotel during their extra ordinary assembly.
David Baxter Bakibinga, the UAP President revealed that the 90 days period will be counted starting 12th July because it’s the day they received the commitment letter from the cabinet.
“With effect from this afternoon Prosecutors operating within the city centre will resume their work, while those from upcountry will resume tomorrow morning,” said Bakibinga.
