Last night, police in Bweyogerere shot Geoffrey Massa, a former Uganda Cranes striker along with his girlfriend.
It all started when police officers found Massa’s car parked by the road side at Kakajjo (Bweyogerere) late in the night, asked him to open and he refused.
According to police, officers on patrol suspected Massa’s parked car along the highway on Namboole Fly Over, stopped and wanted to talk to the occupants. Unfortunately Massa sped off in a rush sending more suspicion.
“In an attempt to stop them, officers attempted to shoot the tyres of the vehicle and subsequently injured the lady in the vehicle. He, Geoffrey Massa suddenly stopped, almost hit another motorist and allegedly hit his forehead on the windscreen, injuring himself. He rushed to a nearby clinic called GWATIRO and he has received medical attention,” said Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima.
Kayima has further refuted claims that the lady who was with Massa ,was shot dead by police officers citing that she is alive and not even in critical condition.
“The woman friend, one JOSEPHINE MALIZA, appropriately 25 years old got a bullet wound and is equally getting treatment at the same facility. She is not dead, not even in critical condition according to reports got from the medical teams handling them,” he clarified.
“The police have opened a General Enquiry File (GEF) to establish the truth behind the incident,”
