Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa on Monday declared his intention to stand for Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidency.
He revealed that that the main opposition political party needs an activist president like him to support former presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye.
“I’m not joking as some people want to assume. We must change the nomenclature of FDC party. You can’t say we (FDC) won the election and then you go ahead to have a shadow cabinet in Parliament. FDC is like a team with a prolific striker but with a weak midfield. Besigye is scoring goals but our midfield can’t hold the ball,” said Munyagwa.
Apart from Munyagwa, there are five more members who have expressed interest in the position and they include; Dan Matsiko,Moses Byamugisha,Patrick Amuriat, Gregory Mugisha and Nathan Nandala.
Apparently, FDC National Executive Committee today is expected toconsider and adopt guidelines for the upcoming election of a Party President.
