A man in Luweero district has resigned to death after giving up on waiting for the promise of medical treatment by president Museveni.
Herbert Ssenkubuge, 35, a resident of Kawumu village in Makulubita Sub County in Luweero district, got paralysed after falling off a tree 11 years ago. He injured his backbone and has never walked ever since.
Ssenkubuge who is a resident in an area Mr Museveni used as his base during the 1981-86 bush war, promised this man to get him treatment by State House medical team. This was during the president’s Operation Wealth Creation tour in Luweero last year.
The 35 year old man was treated in Mulago in 2006 before he was discharged after his family failed to raise money to cover his treatment. His arms and legs were left paralysed.
When the president visited the family, he told the patient’s mother Janet Nakitende and sister, Harriet Nakungu that State House medical team will take over Ssenkubuge’s case, a promise which has not been fulfilled to date.
