A couple of days ago President Museveni was introduced to a man identified as a representative of Airbus.
Airbus is apparently being contacted to supply Uganda with planes to be used in restarting Uganda Airlines!
However, smart Ugandans soon busted the man as a fake after the checked out his names on google and the only search results of his name were the mentions in Uganda of the event of meeting President Museveni.
Social media especially whatsapp groups were hit with criticism of President Museveni’s handlers and how the quack Airbus official spelled doom for the plans to revamp the dead national airline.
Riding on experiences of white elephant projects that have been sold to Museveni in the past, netizens argued that the thieves in Uganda were at it once again, and this time round, presenting a mzungu with fancy names before the president.
On Tuesday, State House issued a clarification of the identity of Mr. Patrice Y. Bouedo who was introduced as “Monsieur” to make the man look sophisticated. “Monsieur” simply means Mister.
The state house clarification however still smells fish as the explanation of the company Mr Bouedo is working still looks very strange.
Anyway, a State House statement states as below;
Clarification on Mr. Bouedo’s relationship with Airbus
June 6, 2017
In our story, “President meets Airbus representatives, assures Ugandans, “Uganda Airlines will succeed,” we mentioned that Mr. Patrice Y. Bouedo is a representative of Airbus Group.
We wish to clarify as such; that Mr. Patrice Y. Bouedo is the Vice President Sales – Africa of ATR.
ATR (Aerei da Trasporto Regionale or Avions de transport régional; Regional Air Transport) is a Franco-Italian aircraft manufacturer headquartered in Toulouse Blagnac International Airport in Blagnac, France.
It was formed in 1981 by Aérospatiale of France (now Airbus Group) and Aeritalia (now Leonardo) of Italy.
