Forum for Democratic Change on Tuesday summoned Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine for a closed door meeting ahead of nominations for the Kyadondo East by election.
The singer met the FDC bosses at FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi on Entebbe Road.
FDC are seeing grim chances for their candidate Apollo Kantinti the incumbent of the constituency who was thrown out by the court of appeal, after NRM’s Sitenda Sebalu blamed the Electoral Commission for mismanaging the process and therefore challenged Kantinti’s victory.
The move by FDC was the last dish maneuver to convince Bobi to step out of the race.
However Bobi Wine turned down the offer, instead, asking FDC to withdraw their candidate for him, in order to rally supporters of the opposition on his side.
Bobi also assured FDC that many of his supporters were actually FDC supporters, but added, he also enjoyed support of other parties.
He said, “Today I was invited for a meeting with the FDC top leadership to find a way of harmonising the situation in Kyadondo East bi-election.
“I made it clear that although I am running as an INDEPENDENT candidate, I have many supporters in FDC since we are all forces of change and subscribe to the same ideology.
I also suggested that FDC withdraws its candidate Hon. Apollo Kantinti in favour of my candidature so that we can win with an even bigger margin than we are already doing.
I await their decision. In the meantime,we are warming up for nomination tomorrow morning at Kasangati Saza grounds and there after,i will address a rally at Wampeewo grounds.
I hope my FDC family joins the winning team””.
