President Yoweri Museveni has revealed that he will not be able to attend the burial of Mzee Boniface Byanyima who died on Tuesday.
While attending the deceased’s vigil at Muyenga on Thursday, president Museveni saluted the national contributions of his foster father also father to Winnie Byanyima, wife to former Presidential candidate.
He said Mzee Byanyima will always be remembered for his works in Ankole and Uganda at large.
“He was one of the first three revolutionary farmers in Ankole and politically I respected him because he stuck to his beliefs. Because of those principles, when the alliance collapsed, many members crossed and joined UPC but he remained in DP.”
“I came here to salute his contribution. When we die, what is left behind is our contribution. Jesus lived thousands of years ago, but his memory and contribution lives on.When we die, we leave behind children. And Mzee’s children are here. I thank you all (mourners) for mourning him,”
However, Museveni said he will not be able to go to Mbarara for the burial.
“I won’t be able to go to Mbarara. I came here to salute his contribution. May his soul rest in eternal peace,”
