Tuesday was not a normal day for the management of Shoprite Lugogo after being netted while reserving rotten meat for sell to customers.
As usual Kampala Capital City Authority(KCCA) through its Public Health Team carried out an operation and this time round it involved Shoprite Lugogo but what was found in the meat section was quite saddening.
The team found stale meat which was not fit for human consumption, improper meat waste disposal practices, poor wastewater drainage in the meat section and on top of that the shopping center had failed to follow the meat hygiene codes and standards.
In turn KCCA suspended meat processing at Shoprite until the supermarket adheres fully to the required codes and standards of practice.
