Mzee Boniface Byanyima, an outstanding citizen of Uganda, had died aged 97.
Byanyima, father to Oxfam executive director Winnie Byanyima together with a host of other prominent siblings, passed on Tuesday morning.
The old man has been bedridden for sometime.
Byanyima, who at some point was a guardian and teacher to young Yoweri Museveni, has been an instrumental citizen in Uganda. He is also one of the phasing out generation of Democratic Party stalwarts that made the party a key player in the politics of Uganda.
