Voices of victory covered Entebbe’s Lido beach play ground as Stormers clinched a 2:1 victory to lift the first trophy of the Samson Muwanguzi memorial beach soccer cup.
The games were played on Sunday 14th of August 2017 and a total number of 18 teams competed for the cup that Stormers managed to win.
Sunday special, Mitora as well as Kampala refugees are the non league teams that managed to take part in this year’s edition. However, the beach big boys could not allow them to cross over.
In the quarter finals, Nkumba Select hammered a 4:1 victory over Buganda Royal Institute, Stormers beating KIU 3:2, YMCA 2(1) : 2(2) MUBS while St Lawrence got 1(1): 1(2) Talented to qualify for the semi finals.
In the semi final stage, Nkumba Select lost 1(1): 1(3) to Stomers as well as Talented 1(1) to 1(2) MUBS
As others faced the agony of defeat, Stromers started showcasing MUBS that they were the men who deserved to win the title
On his closing remarks, the chairman of the Uganda beach soccer Association Mr. Deo Mutabaazi thanked all the participants for embracing the tournament that marks to remember the man who helped beach soccer while at its early age.
