Inspector General Police Gen Kale Kayihura is attending a three day high level meeting for police chiefs in Algerian capital, Algiers.
Gen Kayihura was invited to the First General Assembly of the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (Afripol), a club of police bosses from across the continent.
The meeting which started on Sunday, will end on Tuesday, 16 May 2017.
The Uganda police force has been involved in police training in South Sudan and Somalia, making it one of the forces on the continent with lessons for other countries.
Afripol is being hosted by Algeria’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) led by General Major Abdelghani Hamel.
A communique from Algeria’s Directorate General of Police posted on Africa Union’s peace and security website http://www.peaceau.org says during the meeting, “consideration will be given to the draft rules of procedure of the General Assembly and the Steering Committee, setting up of the members of Afripol Steering Committee besides determining the cooperation frameworks for police institutions at national, regional, continental and international levels “, the Directorate General of Police said in statement.
