Uganda National Roads Authority has demolished businesses worth millions as it carried out its exercise of protecting road reserves along Entebbe road from Kibuye round about to Entebbe airport.
UNRA carried out this exercise today morning accompanied by Uganda police to ensure peace while carrying out the eviction of properties along the road.
Allan Ssempebwa, the public relations officer UNRA said that they were amazed by the response of people while carrying out the exercise as Kibuye traders started demolishing their own structures before UNRA evicting them.
“Am encouraged by those vacating voluntarily out of road reserves along Entebbe road,” Ssempebwa said.
He added that they were amazed at the positive reception they received from the encroachers and the general public as they carried out the exercise.
“The exercise is intended for the safety of the encroachers and easing flow of traffic along roads,” Ssempebwa added.
