The Electoral Commisson has petitioned the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanya over low salaries.
The chairman Justice Simon Byabakama has said this has led to low morale at the commission.
According to Byabakama, salaries of staff of many public agencies have been increased many times but salaries of thr commission have not been increased for the last 18 years.
Early this year, the same commission meet the speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga to discuss on the same issue but the efforts proved futile.
In article 66(1) of the 1995 constitution, it states that, “Parliament shall ensure that adequate resources and facilities are provided to the commission to enable it perform its functions,”
