The long awaited changes at Monitor Publications and NTV have come to pass.
The good thing is, Daniel Kalinaki, the long time managing editor of the Namuwongo based newspaper, is returning from Nairobi where he has been working with Nation Media Group.
NMG is merging operations of the newspaper, radio stations and television, under one management in efforts to cut on the expenditure.
In the new structure, Kalinaki who was head of East Africa content at NMG is returning to Kampala as Head of Editorial Content, overseeing Monitor, NTV, KFM, Dembe fm.
Under Kalinaki, Charles Bichachi, under whom the paper’s circulation sales crumbled by record levels, will now report to Kalinaki from whom he will receive guidance and counsel from time to time on how to manage the paper in modern times. Maurice Mugisha at NTV will also report to Kalinaki.
NMG, the biggest media company in East and central Africa is going through soul searching in the face of changing media consumption habits.
