Traffic police has started a 10 days investigative training at Katwe police station.
Dr Stephen Kasiima, the director of traffic police said many traffic police officers have not acquired investigative knowledge which makes the traffic cases like accidents delay for long without proper evidence of culprits.
“We are going to train all traffic police officers the knowledge about the investigations and other activities about the traffic,” Kasiima said.
Kasiima added that police officers also face a lot of fears from prominent people like ministers, wealthy people on the roads by threatening them to lose their jobs if tampered with their ways of driving and cars.
Kasiima added, “I urge to you to stop fearing people who threaten you to lose your jobs because they are not the ones who gave them to you.”
Norman Musinga, the Kampala region traffic police commander also said the training is going to change the image of traffic police towards people.
“We have started with higher commanders but all traffic police officers in Kampala region and around it will undergo training,” Musinga said.
Musinga further said that the traffic police was not good and cautious about investigating accident cases which they intend to tackle first.
